Fitness Tracking App
GymPal
The Fitness Tracking Mobile Application is a user-centric mobile app designed to empower users to efficiently track their fitness progress, set achievable goals, and receive personalised workout plans. The application prioritises an intuitive and motivating user experience to cater to individuals with varying fitness levels and goals.

Research and Insights
User Surveys and Interviews
The objective of the research was to gather insights and understanding of users' fitness tracking needs and preferences in order to inform the design of a user-centric and motivating fitness tracking mobile application.

A combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed to gather comprehensive data on user needs and behaviours.

User surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted with a select group of fitness enthusiasts, to understand user needs and preferences, as well as their experiences with existing fitness apps.
Most users expressed challenges in staying motivated and tracking progress. Custom workout plans and simplified user interfaces were consistently preferred features.
Competitive Analysis:
Competitive analysis was used to evaluate and analyse existing, popular fitness tracking apps available in the market. It helped to identify the strengths and weaknesses of existing apps to understand industry trends and user expectations.

The competitive analysis revealed that existing apps offered comprehensive exercise libraries and progress tracking, but lacked clear progress visualisation and tailored, customisable routines and plans.

The weaknesses that were highlighted include; overwhelming features, confusing navigation, and limited workout plan personalisation.

The competitive analysis highlighted unique features that can be incorporated into the new app to provide a competitive advantage. These include; a simplified user interface, tailored workout plans, and clear progress visualisation.
Target Persona Development
Based on the surveys, research and interview data, personas were created that represented different user segments. These included Active Annie (30-year-old fitness enthusiast) and Muscle-Building Mark (22-year-old passionate about bodybuilding).

These personas served as archetypal users to guide the design process, as they reflect varying fitness goals, preferences, and technological proficiency.

Initial Idea Sketches
The layout and features of the Fitness Tracking App were initially conceptualised through hand-drawn sketches. These sketches formed the basis for further idea development.

Flow Diagrams
Developing a flow diagram was crucial to illustrate the integration of various components within the Fitness Tracking App. This visual aid enhanced the understanding of the App's overall functionality.
